Meet the Instructors

  • Sydney completed her 200hr Yoga Teacher training in March 2024 after having a decade of personal practice. Since completion of her 200hr, she has continued her education to receive 110 hrs of Yin specific training. Similar to many, her practice began solely as a movement practice until she began to uncover the wholistic view of what Yoga is. The Yoga practice has helped Sydney regulate her mental and emotional well-being through many life challenges and she is passionate about people having the opportunity to experience and adapt the practice in a way that is most meaningful to them.

Outside of her teaching, she has a love for animals and has three cats and three dogs at home, and regularly volunteers at Purrista Cat Cafe. You may also find her at a local market selling her handspun yarn or knitted goods, or holding a class to teach others how to create with fiber arts. She is passionate about sharing her skills and interests with those around her and using them to create a positive impact on her community.

  • Jill Murphey, the owner of yogaErie, discovered yoga years ago, but it wasn’t until after the birth of her fourth son that she dedicated herself to the practice.

Yoga has transformed her life and she enjoys sharing her passion for the practice. Jill completed her 200 hour teacher training program through YogaFit, a Yoga Alliance approved school, in March of 2009. In 2010, Jill furthered her yoga education and training with Amazing Yoga in Pittsburgh led by Karen and Sean Conley, completing the Level One power vinyasa yoga teacher training. In March 2012, she traveled to Mexico for Advanced Teacher Training with the Conleys, completing an additional 100 hours training.  Jill has traveled to Costa Rica for Amazing Yoga Level 3 training and yoga retreats with Amazing Yoga. She is very grateful for her training and support from Karen and Sean...Amazing Yoga was the inspiration for yogaErie!

Jill teaches a vinyasa style of yoga, focusing on flow, strength, grace and power, while at the same time encouraging students to respect their bodies. Her classes are challenging but she is able to offer modifications so that each student is comfortable and confident in each posture.

When she is not teaching or practicing yoga, Jill is raising her four boys, Charlie, Teddy, Harry & Archie, with her dedicated husband Craig. Jill also serves as Judge of Elections for her polling district in Fairview, and spends as much time as she can at Edinboro Lake with her family.  Through yogaErie, Jill is able to share her passion with others in the hope that they too will find themselves transformed by the power of yoga.

  • Through a series of synchronistic events in early 2009, Monica transitioned from a corporate career in Program Management into the world of Holistic Health, Wellness + Spirituality. She spent 6 years as a Master Educator and Retreat Host with The Chopra Center for Wellbeing in Carlsbad, CA. where she received certifications in Meditation, Yoga + Ayurveda under the mentorship of Dr. Deepak Chopra, Dr. David Simon and many other world-renowned visionaries. She had the fortune of honing her teaching skills at the Center with nearly 10,000 guests from all over the world.

In May of 2015, Monica launched her company Soulbare Wellness. She sold nearly all her belongings and moved to Central America with nothing more than a backpack to study Mayan cultural traditions. She had a deep desire to weave together ancient practices from different places around the world. Monica spent another 6 years traveling the world as an Intentional Nomad - speaking on big corporate stages, delivering small group transformational workshops, and hosting adventure retreats across 6 countries.

After this fun and transient chapter, a nudge from Spirit brought Monica back home to her roots in Erie, PA.N

ow, in addition to delivering Soulbare programs and retreats - she is the proud co-owner of Studio 99 Yoga & Wellness in Edinboro, PA. She also produces an annual event called Sol Fest - a day-long festival that celebrates health, wellness, music, community, and the soulful summer season. Monica is a self-proclaimed spirit nerd and comes alive by helping others rediscover their vibrant well-being and passionate purpose in life.
