PROGRAM UPDATE: ERIE PHILHARMONIC'S 'A NIGHT AT THE OPERA' WELCOMES THE NAUGHTON SISTERS

Opening Night: A Night at the Opera

Saturday, September 23 · Warner Theatre · 8pm

September 21, 2023 – The Erie Philharmonic has announced a captivating change to its grand season opener, 'A Night at the Opera.' Due to personal reasons, bass-baritone Eric Owens has had regretfully to cancel his performance. However, the concert's allure has only amplified as the prodigious Naughton Sisters will now illuminate the stage with a dual piano performance, presenting the enchanting strains of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 10 for Two Pianos and Orchestra. The remainder of the program will be presented as originally planned.

This extraordinary presentation offers attendees the rare experience of two grand pianos harmonizing in perfect concert, promising a unique musical event. With their vast repertoire and international acclaim, the Naughton Sisters are celebrated for their impeccable synchronization and profound artistry on the keys.

Separately, under the guidance of Music Director Daniel Meyer, the concert will still feature the originally scheduled orchestral and vocal highlights from Wagner’s Ring Cycle, Turandot, and Aida, with the Erie Philharmonic Chorus, led by Thomas Brooks, elevating the evening's operatic splendor.

Our dedication to providing an unparalleled musical experience remains steadfast. The Naughton Sisters and their dual piano magic, combined with the majesty of our Philharmonic Chorus, guarantees an evening our audience will cherish.
— Steve Weiser, Executive Director

The previously scheduled vocal master class on Friday evening has been canceled. However, the Naughton Sisters will grace the airwaves with an exclusive interview on WQLN 91.3 FM at noon on Friday.

The Erie Philharmonic is immensely grateful for its patrons' understanding.

Tickets for Saturday’s performance are still available. The concert commences at 8pm, with doors opening at 7pm. No COVID protocols regarding masks or vaccinations are currently in place.

"The Warner Theatre will come alive with both the instrumental brilliance of the Naughton Sisters and the vocal grandeur of our chorus. Don't miss this multifaceted evening," enthuses Weiser.
