September 24th is opening night at the Pops, we are excited to welcome back our good friends Jeans n’ Classics from Ontario as they bring one of their newest shows, Every Breath You Take: the Music of Sting and The Police.  With such incredible hits as Every Little Thing She Does is Magic and Message in a Bottle, to Sting’s solo hits like Fields of Gold and An Englishman in New York, this concert is a great way to kick-off our 16-17 Pops season with one of the most popular bands and solo artists from our generation.

In October we celebrate Halloween with an evening of music by popular film composer Danny Elfman.  His name is synonymous with the films of Tim Burton, and what better way to enjoy the delights of the holiday than music written for these memorable films?  From Batman to Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow to Beetlejuice, Danny Elfman has penned some delightfully dark and ghoulish scores, and we will also perform some classic Halloween music for good measure.  And of course you are encouraged to come in costume for this musical fright night!

December’s Home for the Holidays concert has become once of the most treasured holiday traditions on the Erie calendar, and we want you and your family to get into the spirit of the season together.  With a cast that includes the Erie Philharmonic Chorus, the Young People’s Chorus of Erie, and special solo appearances, our annual holiday concert is filled with the music you love and a few new treasures to experience for the very first time.  You can choose from the once-act, family-friendly matinee format or the full two-act evening performance on Saturday evening.

In February we are thrilled to offer a special viewing of the film Casablanca, projected on a large screen above the Warner Theatre stage while the musicians of the Philharmonic perform the score live, in perfect synchronicity with the action!  Take yourself back to the glorious golden age of film, in Erie’s original movie palace, with your own Erie Philharmonic providing the beautiful score real time.  If you’ve never seen Casablanca before, or have seen it a hundred times, don’t miss this unique way to experience this iconic film in live, symphonic grandeur.

Violinist Jenny Oaks Baker was such a sensation in her Erie Philharmonic debut that we have invited her back, this time to join us for our 16-17 Pops season finale.  She’ll perform original arrangements from classic Disney films including hits from her album: Wish Upon a Star.  From A Whole New World to Beauty and the Beast, Jenny brings her unique musicianship and flair back to the Warner stage, and we will round-off the evening with other favorites from the rich songbook Disney has collected over the years.
